Skincare, one of the hottest topics of 2020. With being home majority of 2020 and less of a need to wear makeup (besides those lovely zoom meetings). A big trend I have seen is less makeup and more of a natural look. I love this look and have spent a lot of my time learning about skincare and different products for myself. I thought it would be fun for my first blog to share the products I love to use in my day to day routine. Before we start, I want to give a disclaimer that this my skincare routine and what works for my skin. What I like others might hate, that is okay! I would say I have combination/ normal skin with minimal acne. While I may not have an overly complicated process, I thought it might help at least one person discover a new product or brand that could help with theirs. Full disclosure, all the products, and brand I mention today are products that I have come to discover and love. None of this is a paid promotion from any of the brands. (Though I wish)
First off, let us start with some cleansers, shall we? While I did have a skincare routine before 2020, a discovery for me was the usage of cleansing balms/oils. I tend to touch my face throughout the day, one of those habits I should really break, and so a cleansing balm tends to help with that problem. Not only that, but it can also help to remove makeup. Say goodbye to those cleansing wipes (like please say goodbye to them, they are bad for the earth). The cleansing balm I love to use is the Burts Bees Cleansing Oil Balm. It retails for $14.99 and is at most local drug stores. It feels refreshing and leaves my skin feeling super soft. After that, I go in with the Elemis Balancing Lime Blossom Cleanser , retailing for $36. I discovered this brand by coincidence. I was looking for a new cleanser at Ulta last year when I first found the Superfood Facial Cleanser. It became my holy grail of skincare, and I tend to recommend the company to every person I know. Between the two cleansers, I just mentioned I would suggest trying the Superfood over the Lime Blossom. While they tend to be on the pricier side for skincare, they always are having deals. There is also a deal where you can save 15% on your first purchase. I highly recommend checking them out.
After my skin is clean, I go in with the Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner, retailing for $36. I love this toner, it always makes my skin feel so fresh, and another great thing is that it is a spray so we can forget those cotton pads and let it absorb into the skin. It is on the pricier side for a toner, but it lasts for a long time.
To finish off, I will go in with the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion, retails in between $10-15. It is a simple moisturizer and lightweight, which I prefer because I like my face to feel very lightweight in products when I go to bed.
While my routine is a simple as it can get, I think skincare is sometimes one of those things where less is more. Some products worth mentioning are The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% +HA and the CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum, I will go in with at least one of these products once or twice a week to help exfoliate my skin. However, I think it is important to note to be incredibly careful and slowly work these types of products into a skincare routine, and if possible, talk to a dermatologist to see how they can help.
My nighttime skincare routine is quite simple but effective. I am always trying new products to see what works best for my skin. A couple of tips that I have is to listen to the experts and the labels. Do your research!!! Know what you are putting on your face and do a patch test before blindly putting products on your face. Be patient! It is a constant work in progress and takes time. What is most important is to make sure you enjoy it. Make skincare fun and something you look forward to every day! Thank you for reading hope you find a new product to enjoy!

I think so! I’ve been using their products for years and they have never caused any breakouts and are pretty gentle on the skin. I really recommend them!
