Beauty Products that did not Work

I always like to talk about the products I have been using to help others find new products. However, not every skincare or makeup product will work for my skin, and sometimes I learn that the hard way. So, here are some products that just were not worth my money.

100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil from The Ordinary

I wanted to love this product and, more specifically, The Ordinary itself. I have tried other products from the brand, but every time they cause a massive break out around my chin area. But me being me, I refuse to believe it, so I tried this product, and the same thing happened, which sucks because the brand is affordable and seems to work so well for others.

Versed Mineral Sunscreen

This sunscreen has the weirdest texture, it feels grainy, and it’s uncomfortable to apply. It made me break out, and I have read reviews where it has done the same for others. The only perk of the product is that it has a slight tint to it, so it does not leave a white cast.

La Roche-Posay Sunscreen-Gentle Lotion

This purchase should have been avoided altogether if I had read the label. I like most of La Roche-Posay’s sunscreen line. They have many sunscreens that do not leave a white cast and have a nice finish on the skin. However, I apparently cannot read, and when I tried to apply this sunscreen for the first time, I ended up looking like Casper, the friendly ghost. It took me a solid five minutes to get this to absorb into my skin. I am pretty pale during the winter months, but this was just so bad. I do not recommend this product to anyone. Instead, try the sunscreens with the tint or with fluid in the title and avoid the ones that say lotion.

Bio-Oil

Like all humans, I have stretch marks. My stretch marks are on the upper part of my thighs, and for the most part, they do not bother me. Everyone has them, and I believe that stretch marks show how we grow and change over time. However, I’m about to sound like a hypocrite. I have this deep, long stretch mark that stands out. So, I wanted to see if I could get it to fade a little. This product has overall great reviews, so I decided why not. Honestly, this didn’t do anything for me. Maybe I didn’t use it enough, but it just felt like I was putting this sticky oil on my skin. If it works for you, that’s great, but I will not be repurchasing.

KVD Beauty Good Apple Foundation Balm

If you like beauty or have been on Tik Tok in the past month, you have probably heard of the new KVD foundation. Now, I usually do not buy products that are massively hyped up on Tik Tok. Mostly because I forget about them, or the products are sold out by the time I am ready to try them. However, I was determined to try this product, the total coverage looked amazing, and it looked stunning on everyone’s skin.

So, I bought it, tried it, and hated it.

What the reviews fail to show is an all-day wear test of the product. This foundation looks good on your skin for like ten minutes. If you have oily, normal, or combination skin, I recommend staying away. This product became patchy so fast and highlighted my pores. I was genuinely so excited to try this and so upset when it didn’t work. If this product works for you, let me know and tell me your secrets.

This is my little anti-haul or products that just did the opposite of what I wanted them to do. If these products worked for you, that’s great, and I envy you. If you have any beauty product flops, let me know in the comments so I can stay away from them. Even better, if you have any products you have been loving at the moment, let me know!

Thanks for reading!

  1. I’ve heard from people that some of The Ordinary’s products are not as amazing as the others. Have you tried The Inkey List? A lot of people (read as: Hyram, he’s even launched a line with them) have given that brand a thumbs up. I want to try it but it isn’t available in India yet. 😓
Bio-Oil so didn’t work for me either!! I diligently used it every night for 2 months and gave up after seeing 0 change. Maybe it takes time to give results?

    • I’ve tried The Inkey list, hyaluronic acid (thanks to hyram haha) and it works really well and I want to try more from them. Hopefully the brand becomes available soon!
I really wish Bio-oil would have worked. I have no idea how long it takes to show results and I am so impatient when it comes to this stuff lol
