Supergoop: Is it worth the hype?

Recently Supergoop, a well-known sunscreen brand, had a huge sale. So, of course, I had to take advantage of it to see what the hype is all about. And I spent too much money not to give a review and let everyone else know if it’s really worth the hype. (Also, I am not going to lie. I spent a good 15 minutes trying to swatch the products. Then I realized it is near impossible to swatch sunscreen.)

Unseen Sunscreen

Probably Supergoop’s most popular product. The product is easy to blend into the skin, and I would also say that it almost feels that you’re putting a primer onto your skin. It does not feel greasy or oily at all, but at the same time, it does not dry your skin out. However, the size of the product is kind of pricey. For 1.7 oz, it costs $34, and because you’re supposed to use a lot of sunscreen, it’s super easy to go through the product.

CC Screen 100% Mineral CC Cream SPF 50

I rarely use heavy makeup or foundation in summer, so I thought the CC screen would be perfect for the days I want to wear makeup. However, I was dumb and bought the second lightest shade for summer, and when I tried it for the first time, I looked like Casper’s cousin—shading aside though I wouldn’t say I liked how it felt on the skin. It has a matte and drying finish to it. It’s also a lot thicker than what I thought it would be. As a result, it feels like more of a foundation than a CC cream.

(Re)setting 100% Mineral Powder SPF 35

I have been on the hunt for sunscreen to reapply throughout the day. I am very lazy at reapplying, and using thick sunscreen repeatedly makes my face feel so gross. I think this product is excellent if you are on the go. It works great if you want to reduce the shine on your face and not leave your face feeling dry. I think the only downside to this is that it’s kind of hard to tell if you’re applying the proper amount.

Glowscreen Body SPF 40

This is my favorite product out of the four that I purchased. I wanted a body sunscreen for my trip, and this was the perfect one. It gives you a glow and sparkle to your body. I love how it looks on my arms and shoulders, and it kind of looks like I put a subtle highlight on my body. I also tried it on my face, and it gave a perfect shine without making me look greasy.

What I like about the brand:

I love that their products are Vegan, Cruelty-Free, Reef-Safe, they do not use synthetic fragrances, and the products are non-irritating. They try to be as inclusive as possible with their products. And I also love the message behind the brand and how the brand was started.

What I don’t like about the brand:

The prices are just so high. And I get it, sometimes the better the quality, the more expensive it’s going to be. But I think that the only time I would really buy any of these products is if they are on sale. I also am just not a fan of the CC Screen. I might give it a try in the winter months, but we’ll see.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I think it’s a great brand. If you’re willing to spend the money and want to have a nice sunscreen for your routine, then I do highly recommend it. At the same time, it’s not a brand that you need to rush out and buy, there are plenty of other options that are half the price. If you’ve tried any of the brand’s products, let me know what you think.
